Title I is a federally funded program providing additional support to school districts based on achievement, the number of low-income children in a District / School’s attendance area and the statewide average per pupil expenditures. Resources within the state are targeted to the districts and schools with the greatest need. Title I funds are generally used to improve academic achievement in reading, math and may also include support for greater parent involvement. In return, school districts must meet accountability requirements for raising student performance.
Title I requires that District staff work collaboratively to support students and jointly develop policies and plans which lead to greater parent involvement. Niagara Wheatfield CSD works diligently to keep parents involved as key participants in their children’s education. The policies linked on the left have been jointly developed with staff and parents to ensure an effective implementation of the Niagara Wheatfield CSD Title 1 program.
