District profile —
BIRD’S EYE VIEW
We’re not like every other K-12 school district. See what makes us great.
With over $107 million invested in capital improvements over the past decade, Niagara Wheatfield Central School District has transformed its learning and recreational spaces. Highlights include new athletic turf fields and tennis courts, modern science and technology classrooms, enhanced safety through weapons detection systems, and a new storage building to support daily operations. A state-of-the-art auditorium—opening in spring 2026—will serve as a vibrant hub for student and community events. We’re also expanding outdoor learning, with a new instructional space coming to the high school campus near Cayuga Creek. Every elementary school will receive new, ADA-compliant playgrounds by fall 2025, ensuring fun and inclusive play for all students.
Niagara Wheatfield Central School District is deeply committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. Every building is equipped with weapons detection systems and staffed by School Security Officers, with School Resource Officers serving across the district. We’ve enhanced visibility across campuses through strategic surveillance and limited access points to better monitor and control entry. Emergency preparedness is a top priority. We partner with law enforcement and other first responders for annual active drills and train staff regularly. In the event of a crisis, our reunification app allows for real-time communication, helps account for students and staff, and streamlines the reunification process.
The District is honored to partner with the Tuscarora Nation, whose culture, language, and history are deeply woven into our shared educational community. As one of only three schools in New York State located entirely on Native territory, Tuscarora Nation School provides students with daily instruction in Tuscarora language and culture—fostering a strong connection to heritage and identity. This partnership enriches learning across the District. Middle and High School students can study the Tuscarora language for Regents credit, and social studies courses explore Tuscarora/Haudenosaunee history and contemporary Indigenous issues. Cultural experiences like traditional dancing, schoolwide assemblies, Orange Shirt Day observances, and Elders Day at Tuscarora School offer students the opportunity to connect with Indigenous culture and perspectives.
Home of the Falcons, Niagara Wheatfield Athletics features 69 teams across Modified, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and Unified levels—providing opportunities for students of all abilities to compete and grow. Our student-athletes proudly represent the District in the Niagara Frontier League (NFL), backed by some of the best facilities in the region, including a state-of-the-art multipurpose sports complex built in 2022. Our teams consistently excel in both League and Section competitions, earning multiple championships. The Niagara Wheatfield Falcons have won the prestigious NFL Supremacy Award for the 2018-2019, 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Just as meaningful, Niagara Wheatfield was also honored with the NFL Sportsmanship Award—voted on by NFL coaches and players—for 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2020-2021, 2021-2022 and 2023-2024 school years, recognizing our commitment to competing with integrity, respect, and character.
