Niagara Wheatfield Families,
There have been a number of questions specifically related to the Program Enrollment Change Form and change in commitment process shared by the District in a communication yesterday.
Over the past few months we have discussed numerous program options and timelines during Board of Education meetings. Early on in the process (over the summer), I shared that an opportunity would be available for families to make a change at week eleven and again at the beginning of the second semester (for week 21). As the school year started, and we phased-in additional in-person instruction, the conversation shifted to only allowing one additional opportunity to select between the Regular Program and the Virtual Program.
From the onset of Covid-19 we have asked our school community to be patient and flexible, and with limited exception I have been impressed with how students, families, and staff have handled the pandemic situation.
It is certainly important that we model flexibility as well, while at the same time being practical and prudent with the District’s resources. Thus, after consulting with the entire Board of Education, we will allow families to make a change now (for weeks 11-20) and then again near the end of December (for weeks 21-40), which will take us to the end of the 2020-2021 school year. To be clear, families looking to change programs for weeks 11-20 must fill out the Program Enrollment Change Form by October 16.
I hope this helps families as they make decisions about the educational program that best fits their needs during this very unique and difficult time.

Niagara Wheatfield Families,
This message is simply an update to let you know that the nwcsd.org/learning webpage (the page you are currently on), regarding Program Enrollment Change Forms (and other information regading Continuity of Learning) has been updated and reorganized to make it easier to find the presentation video, slides, and Program Enrollment Change Forms. These materials were sent along with the original communication, but we understand some families were not successful finding the links.
Following the text of this communication is a printable calendar for this school year - including the “District-Wide Asynchronous Days” (as referenced on the final slide in the presentation). These days will be utilized for our teaching staff to connect with families, take part in professional development related to technology and instruction, and consult with peers on best practices. Students will access learning materials either online, or with teacher-provided materials. Families will be asked to ensure that their child logs in for attendance purposes. Middle and High School students should already be familiar with this process. Additional information will be provided to Elementary students prior to the first asynchronous date.
You can expect an additional message in the next 24 hours from Mr. Ljiljanich related to a family's choice in selecting the Regular Program or the Virtual Program.

Niagara Wheatfield Families,
This message concerns information regarding Program Enrollment selection for week 11 through week 20 (revised per Superintendent message on 10/15) for Pre-K, Elementary and Secondary Students.
Niagara Wheatfield students may participate in a Regular Program or a Virtual Program as described in the Continuity of Learning Plan information on this page.
Families who wish to change their child’s program enrollment may do so using the Program Enrollment Change Form (on this page) corresponding to their child’s school. The forms will be available online from Tuesday, October 13 through Friday, October 16 and must be completed by the end of the day on October 16. Families who complete the Change Form will be committing to a program for weeks 11 through 20 (revised per Superintendent message on 10/15).
Please be sure to review all materials regarding our Continuity of Learning Plans prior to submitting a change in your child’s enrollment. All materials, including a video presentation and a slideshow, are available on this page.
Families who do not wish to change their child’s enrollment do not need to complete the form. Children of families who do not complete the Change Form will remain in their current program.
Additionally, if you need to update your transportation needs, please complete the Transportation Change Form located on this page.
And lastly, family requests for technology support may continue to be made through the nwcsd.org/tech webpage.

Greetings Niagara Wheatfield Families,
On Friday, August 14 we shared an update regarding where we were in developing our Reopening Plan. The shift in family responses required additional planning and adjustments to
our Reopening Plan. The Elementary Plan is almost exactly the same as described in the original Reopening Plan. The Phase-in for the Secondary Plan has changed. Please see our 2020-2021 school year plans linked below.
August 5, 2020
The following information concerns our NYS Education Department required Reopening Plan and Continuity of Learning Plan - including our Regular Education Program and the alternative Virtual Program option.
This document is intended to provide information to families to inform the decision to enroll their child in either the Regular Program or the alternative Virtual Program option.
Students in the Regular Program may transition between being fully in school every day (in-person), alternating days (hybrid), or fully at home (remote) - at different times during the year, as directed by state and local government.
Students in the alternative Virtual Program option will only participate in learning from home - regardless of state and local directives. (Note: These students may still participate in clubs, sports, and BOCES CTE, however families would have to provide transportation and complete daily screening protocols, and students would have to wear masks as required). This program will run for at least the first half of the school year.
Families are asked to select one of these options using the “Family Program Commitment Form” links further below. Students will be scheduled in the Regular Program by default. Families may switch programs at ten-week intervals.
Family Question & Answer Sessions
NWCSD will host four Question & Answer sessions for families concerning the Re-Opening and Continuity of Learning Plans. They will be virtual zoom sessions, where panelists will answer typed questions by attendees. The dates, times, and links follow:
