Niagara Wheatfield Families:
Yesterday, the NYSDOH stated that due to low rates of COVID-19 transmission, school districts running summer programs can revise their masking policies to be consistent with those available in the document “INTERIM GUIDANCE FOR CHILD CARE, DAY CAMP, AND OVERNIGHT CAMP PROGRAMS DURING THE COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY” (click to view).
Therefore, we will be implementing the following procedures re: masks/face coverings at Niagara Wheatfield throughout the summer program, or until further notice.
Students are strongly encouraged but not required to wear face coverings indoors while seated
Please know that a child always has the option of wearing a face covering if they wish to do so
Masks must be worn by vaccinated and unvaccinated persons on busses and inside school buildings in passing situations (ie...hallways)
Students and staff are not required to wear a face covering when outdoors
Unvaccinated staff must wear a face covering at all times while indoors; except when you are alone in your workspace
Vaccinated staff have the option of wearing a face covering while indoors, but are not required to do so
We will also continue to implement the following mitigation measures during our summer programming:
We will maximize the physical distance between students based on the number of children in each class and the size of the instructional space
If your child is not feeling well or has any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, please keep them home
Thorough cleaning of all spaces will continue to be completed daily
Daily reporting to the COVID-19 Report Card Dashboard is no longer required, however daily screening of students and staff will continue (this includes temperature checks)
Have a great weekend,
