Dear Virtual Program 3-8 Parents,
NYSED and the Board of Regents have issued guidance for the Spring 2021 3-8 testing administration. NYSED has asked schools to prepare to proceed with the Spring 2021 test administrations while still awaiting a decision from the US Department of Education regarding NYSED’s waiver request.
Highlights of the NYSED guidance:
All assessments will be “school-based” and “in-person”
Only Session 1 of the 3-8 ELA and math assessments will be administered
Only the written portion of the grades 4 and 8 science test will be administered
Session 1 tests for ELA and math have been reduced in length by the removal of the embedded multiple-choice field test questions
Schools are not required to bring virtual program students into the building to participate in the tests
Parents of students in the virtual program who would like their child(ren) to participate in-person in the 3-8 ELA and math assessments should complete this linked form by April 1, 2021. If the form is not completed, the District will assume that the student will not participate in the assessments. Please complete one form for each child.
Administration dates for virtual students:
ELA Grades 6 to 8 April 23 at ETMS
ELA Grades 3 to 5 April 28 at West Street School
ELA Tuscarora 3 to 6 April 26 at Tuscarora

ELA Tuscarora 3 to 6 May 5 at Tuscarora

After determining numbers and planning for social distancing, the school will contact each family who signs up with specific times and details of the administration.
We will provide additional information should NYSED issue guidance that results in a change of this plan.
Sincerely,
Niagara Wheatfield Administrative Team
