The virtual Kindergarten students in Miss Fleming and Mrs. Seager's classes completed a Valentine’s Day craft to celebrate together! They ripped the paper instead of cutting it. This helps improve hand strength and endurance! The valentine said “I love you to pieces!”
Virtual kindergartners are all heart! Kindergarten students played the Mystery Picture game using our skills with the numbers 1-100. The children had to color the numbers that were called and see if they could create the mystery picture. They did a great job and were thrilled when the heart started to appear!
Virtual students in Mrs. McFadden's fourth grade classes had a visit today from Elyse Smith, Storm Team 2 Meteorologist. She conducted an experiment with the students, talked about being a meteorologist and answered questions. The students were very interested in tornados!
Ms. Fazio's grade 2 sections, with students from all elementary buildings, met virtually yesterday afternoon with Mrs. Berical’s in-person West Street class. Students brought a favorite stuffed animal, hot cocoa, and a favorite book! Virtual students were able to catch up and visit with some former classmates now at West. Here are some of the comments from students who attended: *Let’s do it again!!! *I'm sorry to say this, but why do we have to leave? *Do we have to leave? *I know a lot of people here! *I am so happy to see you all! *We all love our friends. *I love you guys so much and I love my teachers! *Can we do it for an hour next time? *Nice to see everyone! *OMG-I LOVE THIS!

February 4, 2021 Good Afternoon Niagara Wheatfield Families, This past October, we communicated about the creation of six “District-Wide Asynchronous Days.” These days are being utilized for our teaching staff to connect with families, take part in professional development related to technology and instruction, and consult with peers on best practices. On these days, students access learning materials either online, or with teacher-provided materials. Two of these days happened to coincide with the change between 10-20 weeks and 20-30 weeks. Consequently, they provided an additional benefit: ensuring a smooth transition for students whose families requested a change in their program enrollment - either from Virtual Program to Regular Program, or vice versa. Therefore, to provide an opportunity for a smooth transition for students who are switching programs at the 30-week mark, we are moving the asynchronous day originally scheduled for Monday, May 3, 2021 to Monday, April 19, 2021. On Monday, April 19, students will access learning materials either online, or with teacher-provided materials - as they have on the other asynchronous days. On Monday, May 3, elementary Regular Program students will come to school. Secondary Regular Program students will treat it as a RED day. (If they normally come to school on a RED day, they should come to school on Monday, May 3. All other secondary RED/BLACK days will remain as scheduled.) Thank you again for your support as we navigate the instructional programming and scheduling that supports student learning during these unique times. Thank you, NWCSD
