    Mrs. Venne, Library Aide
The Johnson Library Media Center serves the students and faculy of Colonial Village Elementary School.  The library media center has over 12,000 books, seven computer workstations and an attached computer lab. The library media program focuses on creating information-literate students ready for challenges of the 21st century.

We start by teaching children how to find things in our library media center. Primary-age students will learn about fiction and nonfiction and how to find those books in the library. At the same time, we will share numerous books from a wide variety of genres and authors. This age group also receives computer instruction on programs such Kidspiration, Graph Club and the Internet.

Intermediate students will learn how to use reference materials such as encyclopedias and atlases both in print and electronic formats. Internet navigation, acceptable use and safety issues will be covered in a new program called iSafe. In keeping with the New York State standards, students learn the analysis skills needed to answer document-based questions.

All students come to the library for weekly book exchange. In addition, students can exchange books on any weekday morning.
